What it is
Restorative micropigmentation of the areola, most often following breast surgery or reconstruction. It is careful, private work, and there is no rush to any part of it.
How it works
Colour, size and placement are planned with you in detail before anything begins — symmetry and matching to your existing tone matter more here than anywhere else. Two touch-up appointments are included in the price, because achieving the right result normally takes more than one visit.
Good fit for
- After breast reconstruction, once your surgeon confirms the area has fully healed
- Restoring definition or symmetry
- Anyone who wants this handled sensitively and at their own pace
Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone.
Your treatment journey
- A private consultation, with as much time as you need and no obligation to book.
- Confirmation that the area has healed sufficiently — usually your surgeon guides this timing.
- Colour and placement planned and agreed with you.
- The first session.
- Two included touch-ups to refine the healed result.
Results and what to expect
The healed result is softer than day one and usually needs the included touch-ups to reach where you want it. Pigment in surgically altered or scarred skin behaves differently from normal skin, so patience is part of the process. Colour softens over years and may need refreshing.
Safety and common effects
Most people notice some of the following. They are temporary and expected rather than a problem:
- Tenderness and swelling for a few days
- Colour appearing much stronger before it settles
- Flaking between days five and ten
- Patchiness before the touch-up appointments
Before you book. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone. Tell your practitioner about any medication, skin condition, allergy or recent treatment at consultation rather than on the day.

Aftercare
Keep the area clean and dry as instructed, do not pick flaking, avoid swimming and saunas while healing, and avoid friction from clothing over the area.

Common questions
How soon after surgery can I have this?
The area must be fully healed and settled, and your surgeon is the right person to confirm when. This is usually months rather than weeks after surgery.
Are the touch-ups really included?
Yes — two touch-ups are included in the price, because reaching the right result normally takes more than one appointment.
Can you match my other side?
Matching is the goal where one side is being restored, and colour and size are planned carefully against your existing side.
Will it look three-dimensional?
Shading techniques can create an impression of dimension on a flat reconstruction. Your practitioner will show you what is realistic for your situation.
Is the appointment private?
Always. This is done in a private room, at your pace, and you can stop at any point.
How long does it last?
Colour softens gradually over years and can be refreshed when you want to.
