What it is
A treatment using very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. The skin responds by working on its own repair process, which is why results build gradually over the weeks after each session rather than appearing straight away.
How it works
After cleansing and numbing cream, a device passes over the treatment area at a depth chosen for the region and your goal. Depths on the under-eye area differ from those used on the cheeks. A calming serum finishes the session.
Good fit for
- Uneven texture and the appearance of scarring
- Fine lines and skin that has lost firmness in appearance
- Enlarged-looking pores
Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone.
Your treatment journey
- Consultation covering skin history, medication and any active conditions.
- Numbing cream applied and given time to work.
- Treatment passes at depths chosen per area.
- Calming serum, then a strict 24-hour aftercare routine.
Results and what to expect
Skin often looks plumper within a week, but the meaningful change comes across a course as the skin continues its own renewal. Texture and scarring goals typically need three to six sessions spaced four weeks apart, and results vary between individuals.
Safety and common effects
Most people notice some of the following. They are temporary and expected rather than a problem:
- Redness resembling mild sunburn for 24 to 48 hours
- Skin feeling tight or dry for a few days
- Light flaking around day three
Before you book. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation. Some treatments are not appropriate for everyone. Tell your practitioner about any medication, skin condition, allergy or recent treatment at consultation rather than on the day.

Common questions
Is it painful?
Numbing cream is applied first and most people find it very manageable. Bonier areas such as the forehead can feel sharper.
How long until I look normal?
Most people are comfortable in public the next day, with residual pinkness that make-up covers well from 24 hours onward.
Can it be combined with a peel?
Yes, and this combination is offered as its own treatment. Combining changes the aftercare, so follow the instructions given for the combined version.
Will it get rid of my scars?
Microneedling is used to help scarring look less noticeable over a course of treatments. It is not a removal procedure and results vary with scar type, age and your own healing.
Can I have it while pregnant?
This is one of the things assessed at consultation. Tell your practitioner if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How is the hair-growth version different?
It uses the same principle applied to the scalp, at depths and spacing suited to that area. It is booked separately.
